Teaching
I have a keen interest in effective teaching at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level and constantly teach in my clinc and theatre sessions. During the final years of my training I was an Orthopaedic Surgical Tutor at Oxford University. Since my consultant appointment I have been an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Oxford University attached to St Peter’s College.
I am both a clinical and educational supervisor to SHO grade doctors on the Oxford Training Scheme. I have attracted a Post Fellowship Clinical Fellow since 2008. I provide support and education to future consultants in both orthopaedic oncology and revision arthroplasty.
I have organised and led numerous symposiums on my sub-specialty interests both locally, nationally and increasingly internationally. I regularly host visiting surgeons in my theatre from both the UK and abroad.
I have a philosophy to lecture whenever possible on sarcoma/skeletal metastatic disease, raising awareness on these rare or currently poorly treated orthopaedic conditions. I have run a series of Sarcoma Update Meetings at referring hospitals or primary care facilities and teach frequently on Post-Graduate Orthopaedic Training programs in Oxford and the South-West. I have been on specific medical teaching courses to become a more effective medical educator.

Invited International / National Lecturing
I regularly undertake invited lectures both nationally and internationally in the field of oncology, hip and knee arthroplasty and reconstruction.
As my experience increases, I am increasingly being asked to chair and organise courses.
I have instigated and organised two separate meetings in Oxford which occur annually on Sarcoma (Oxford Musculoskeletal Review Course) and Skeletal Metastatic Disease to further improve education and awareness in these areas to improve patient outcomes. I have also organised a large international meeting (>180 delegates) to occur in Oxford in October 2011 on complex hip and knee revision techniques (Extreme Trabecular Metal Technology) with an international faculty including Dr Wayne Paprosky.
